Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins around the anus or in the lower rectum. It has two types:
- External hemorrhoids form under the skin around the anus.
- Internal hemorrhoids form in the anus lining and lower rectum.

- Irritation in the perineum or the skin between the genitals and anus
- A feeling of incomplete evacuation

What Causes Hemorrhoids?
Hemorrhoids may result from too much pressure on the veins surrounding the anus. The following factors may also increase your risk of hemorrhoids:
- Straining during bowel movements
- Sitting on the toilet for too long
- Chronic diarrhea or constipation
- Low-fiber diet
- Pregnancy
- Lifting objects that are too heavy
- Older than 50 years old
How To Get Rid of Hemorrhoids?
Home remedies may be able to treat hemorrhoids, such as:
- Consuming foods rich in fiber
- Intaking a fiber supplement to soften stool
- Not straining during bowel movements
- Not sitting on the toilet for prolonged periods
- Relieving pain by taking over-the-counter (OTC) pain relievers
- Sitz bath, sitting in a tub of warm water
Doctors often recommend OTC products for a week. Follow up with your doctor if symptoms persist and other side effects appear, such as a rash or dry skin around the anus.
