Overview

Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows our surgeons to diagnose and treat hip problems with precision. Using a small camera and specialized instruments, we can view the inside of your hip joint on a screen, making it easier to repair tissues and address issues without large incisions. This approach often results in less pain and a quicker recovery compared to traditional surgery.

Common Conditions Leading to Hip Surgery

The gluteus medius is a crucial muscle for hip stability and movement. Tears in this muscle can lead to significant pain and difficulty in daily activities. Arthroscopic surgery allows us to repair these tears effectively, helping you regain strength and mobility in your hip.

Osteoarthritis in the hip can cause significant pain and stiffness, affecting your quality of life. While arthroscopy may not cure osteoarthritis, it certain cases it can help alleviate symptoms by removing loose pieces of cartilage and cleaning up the joint space, providing relief and improving mobility.

A labral tear involves damage to the ring of cartilage (labrum) that follows the outside rim of your hip joint socket. This can cause pain and instability in the hip. Our skilled surgeons use arthroscopy to trim or repair the torn labrum, which helps restore function and alleviate discomfort.

Avascular necrosis occurs when the blood supply to the hip bone is reduced, causing bone tissue to die. This condition can lead to severe arthritis if not treated promptly.  A core decompression can help by debriding the damaged bone and restore blood flow, aiming to prevent further damage and possibly avoid a hip replacement.

A tear in the proximal hamstring can be extremely painful and limit your ability to walk or stand. Using a small incision, we can reattach the torn hamstring tendons to the bone, facilitating a smoother recovery and getting you back on your feet with confidence.

Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a condition where extra bone grows along one or both of the bones that form the hip joint, giving the bones an irregular shape. This extra bone can damage the joint and cause pain. Arthroscopic surgery helps in reshaping the hip joint and repairing any labral tears, thereby reducing pain and improving joint function.
