Goal

The Hedley Adult Reconstruction Fellowship is an AAHKS accredited fellowship that trains 1 board eligible orthopedic surgery fellow annually in the full scope of adult total joint reconstruction. The fellowship year provides broad experience in primary and revision total knee and hip arthroplasty with emphases on minimally invasive techniques, robotic assisted surgery, and complex revision surgery.

Case Variety & Volume

  • 500-600 total cases, approximately 100 of those being revision cases
  • Extensive Robotic total knee and hip exposure
  • Direct Superior, Direct Anterior, and SuperPath Minimally Invasive Hip approaches
  • Quadriceps Sparing Midvastus and Subvastus Knee approaches
  • Exposure to CR and PS knee designs with cemented and cementless implants
  • Revision experience to include:

Schedule, Call, & Coverage

  • Typical weekly schedule will include 3 OR days and 2 clinic days
  • No call requirements during fellowship year
  • Occasional rounding responsibilities split with the PA on service
  • Fellow is assigned to 1 surgeon for 2-3 months at a time in a mentorship model.
  • Last 2 months of the year are “unassigned” to allow the fellow to freely pursue whatever experiences are deemed most beneficial in final preparation to starting practice.
  • With only 1 fellow, there is significant schedule flexibility throughout the year to allow the fellow to leave their “assigned” attending for revisions and other unique cases on another surgeon’s schedule. Each attending has PA coverage so their OR/clinic workflow is not reliant on the fellow’s presence.
