Revision Bariatric Surgery
Revision weight loss surgery is designed to address complications from a previous bariatric procedure or to improve weight loss outcomes. For instance, if a gastric bypass hasn’t delivered the expected results—often due to gastric pouch dilation, where the stomach pouch enlarges and reduces the surgery’s effectiveness—a revision can help.
Our experienced surgeons can perform minimally invasive techniques to restore the pouch to its intended size. This may involve injecting medication to cause controlled inflammation or using a device to fold and reduce the pouch tissue.
Weight Loss Surgery Options at Abrazo
We understand how challenging it can be to lose weight and maintain that loss. You may have experienced initial success, only to regain the weight, or perhaps you've hit a plateau. If you've undergone a previous weight loss surgery that hasn’t been effective long-term, we’re here to help.
The Abrazo Difference
At Abrazo Health Medical and Surgical Weight Loss, you’ll receive experienced care from board-certified surgeons specializing in obesity medicine and bariatric surgery. We provide compassionate, personalized care that continues beyond your hospital stay through our dedicated outpatient services.
If your original surgery wasn’t successful or certain procedures weren’t available to you at the time, now may be the right time to consider revision surgery. It could be the second chance you need to achieve lasting weight loss and a healthier life.
Weight loss surgery is recommended for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) equal to or greater than 35, regardless of presence, absence, or severity of co-morbidities. Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding with the Lap Band® is also FDA-approved for weight loss surgery in people with a BMI of 30 to 35 who have at least one obesity-related condition. Weight loss surgery is considered safe, but like many types of surgery, it does have risks. Consult with your physician about the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery. These testimonials reflect results achieved by these patients. As each case must be independently evaluated and managed, actual weight loss will vary.
