Percutaneous Tenotomy
Overview
Percutaneous Tenotomy, also known as Tenex, an innovative minimally invasive procedure that combines innovative technology with advanced medical techniques to address advanced tendon injuries. Tenex clinical studies have shown that when Tenex is used to treat chronic tendon injuries at the elbow, hip, knee ankle and plantar fascia, overall functionality is increased and pain is significantly decreased.
What to Expect
Percutaneous Tenotomy is performed under local anesthesia, allowing you to remain awake throughout the procedure. Utilizing ultrasound guidance, our skilled physicians navigate an ultrasonic device to the site of the damaged or injured tendon. Through meticulous micro-debridement, damaged tissue and calcifications are gently removed, leaving the healthy tendon untouched. Tenex requires a micro incision which reduces the risk for infection and you can expect minimal scarring, reduced risk of infection, and a faster recovery compared to traditional surgical methods.
Aftercare
Following the procedure you will have a post procedure rehabilitation guideline reviewed with by your physician. A typical rehab guideline starts with limited activity for one week followed by physical therapy to work to return to active lifestyle. Typical recovery occurs over 8-12 weeks although patients often feel significantly better within the first month. Experience the full effect of the procedure and tendon remodeling around three months after treatment, as you embark on the journey to restored mobility and vitality.
