Weight-loss surgery has benefits well beyond weight loss, including:
- Long-term remission or reversal of type 2 diabetes
- Improved mobility and increased energy
- Lowered risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke
- Reduced or eliminated joint pain
- Improved mood and feelings of well-being
- Increased self-esteem and confidence
Weight loss surgery is designed to help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight, and it can help alleviate many other obesity-related conditions like heart disease, diabetes, sleep apnea, depression and more.
When diet, exercise and medications have failed, it may be time to consider weight loss surgery, also known as bariatric surgery. At Abrazo Medical and Surgical Weight Loss, you’ll find:
- Exceptional care with doctors and nurses specially trained in all aspects of bariatric care
- Minimally invasive approaches to weight loss surgery, including advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery
- A variety of surgical options, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch, adjustable gastric band and revision surgery.
- All-in-one comprehensive approach to care in a modern facility
The Abrazo Medical and Surgical Weight Loss program at Abrazo Scottsdale Campus and Abrazo Arrowhead Campus are accredited as comprehensive bariatric facilities through the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), and both earned top designations for quality and value in bariatric surgery. We are proud to have Aetna Blue Distinction+, Optum Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Institutes of Quality® (IOQ) designations for bariatric surgery!
From seminar to surgery and post-operatively for years to come, our dedicated staff coordinates your care, making your journey toward better health an easier one.
Weight loss surgery is recommended for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) equal to or greater than 35, regardless of presence, absence, or severity of co-morbidities. Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding with the Lap Band® is also FDA-approved for weight loss surgery in people with a BMI of 30 to 35 who have at least one obesity¬related condition. Weight loss surgery is considered safe, but like many types of surgery, it does have risks. Consult with your physician about the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery. These testimonials reflect results achieved by these patients. As each case must be independently evaluated and managed, actual weight loss will vary.
