Dr. Bessette received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Minnesota College of Medicine. He completed a family practice residency at the University of Minnesota, where he also sub-specialized in integrative medicine.
Dr. Bessette is board-certified in family medicine and also holds certifications in acupuncture, osteopathy, functional and nutritional medicine.
Dr. Bessette has been practicing in Tucson since 1989. He was previously Carondelet Medical Group's assistant medical director in 1996 and a representative of the Carondelet Health Network Board of Directors 1998-1999. He is also a faculty member of the University of Arizona College of Medicine. Dr. Bessette is originally from Wisconsin and enjoys cycling, skiing, hiking, tennis, reading, and watching his children perform ballet.

The staff are very polite and chatty (but in a professional way). I had a rather nice conversation about weight management experiences (my reason for the appointment) with the woman that took me to the back and with the doctor himself. I always feel heard when I'm here. It's a big step up from other providers where I feel like their decisions/diagnoses are predetermined before I even open my mouth. It was a huge relief not to be brushed off regarding my weight concerns just because I'm not as plainly obese as a typical patient. Doc and staff really took the time to hear me out with respect to total health picture. Lastly, Doctor Bessette prescribed a prudent alternative to a medication that I had initially inquired about but was not a suitable candidate for. I believe that this alternative will be highly effective - bordering on being customer-tailored to my specific situation and health background.The patience and attentiveness of Doctor Bessette and the Abrazo staff is strongly noted.

This visit was amazing. I was searching to transition to a new doctor that could fill the shoes of my doctor of 30 years that retired. Somebody praise, give a raise or at least give a hug to Jasmine for me. What a Godsend. I was having "a moment" and Jasmine dropped her pen/paper and put her hands out to me to hold my hands, gave me a tissue and told me I could speak with her because I was in a safe place. It was a much needed assurance. I'm grateful for the mini therapy session prior to Dr. Bessette seeing me. Plus, she had me laughing at the end. It was as If I made a new friend. We were completely on the same page, I'm sure I was looking at him more than he was looking at me, we were completely dialed in. That guy could be my brother I want him to be my primary physician, I would trust him if I was out cold on the table making the upmost serious decisions, and that is my major concern I was not born yesterday, neither was he there's only a couple years between us that was super important to me we related 100%, that is super important we are both of the same era that means everything. We knew exactly what each other was saying you can see somebody just playing along I feel like really got lucky!

I have already referred all my support groups. I now know of 6 other patients that see Dr Bessette that I did refer. He is outstanding. I travel 2.5 hours to see him. He is quite literally the best doctor I've had in my entire life, and the only one that really understands all of my rare diseases. By taking the extra step, they saved me $130.00 dollars over 3 months. To my surprise, my insurer covered a large portion of prescription. Before their help, the insurer said I had to pay out of pocket. Very grateful Dr. Bessette and Kari took the time to fill out paperwork for insurance reimbursement of my prescription. Dr. Bessette has been my primary doctor for 16 years and for good reason. He is a great doctor who listens to any concerns or issues that I have. He doesn't talk above me or below me, we have a conversation about my health. I highly recommend him to my friends and family when I hear they are searching.

Dr. Bessette is amazing! He's able to accomplish things with my health no one else can. He listens to my questions and concerns and addresses them as appropriate. He makes sure to check my medications for interactions and/or previous problems. If I need a referral, he assists with that as well. The biggest thing is he hears what I have to say and we can talk about issues and what needs done together.

Dr Bessette is one of Tucson's best physicians in my opinion. I have recommended him to many of my friends (and even clients) to him, though they were told he is not taking any new patients? It is my opinion that there are some things organizationally that seem to prevent him from giving certain requested information vs a while back when he was better able to be more wholistic minded which is one of the major reasons I've gone to Dr. Bessette for over 18 years. Dr. Bessette is a kind doctor and he knows his medicine. I wish there were more like him with his expertise, training. I really like that I can speak with him about almost anything and he understands. He is a MD, DO, and is knowledgable RE: supplements I take or dietary corrections to make. In previous years I went to a separate doctor to get that information. Now I can go to Dr. Bessette and he knows how medications work with supplements I've taken for years even before going to him as a doctor.

I find that Dr. Bessette is very knowledgeable and cares about his patients. On my first visit he was able to diagnose a health problem for which I had seen a 8 different specialists. These all referred to by my previous PCP. This PCP finally just gave me medication for depression saying that there was nothing wrong with me. Needless to say I am very happy that I left his practice and grateful for Dr. Bessette's care and treatment.

Since I did not know I was to complete a survey later, I simply waited, as I always do! I recall watching the screeen in the exam room for a while.

It was the first time he's used a transcriber person while working on me. I like that idea as it frees the doctor to work on the patient and not the COMPUTER!!
