GOODYEAR — Abrazo West Campus invites you to join us during World Breastfeeding Week for a series of events to educate and provide resources and support for breastfeeding families. World Breastfeeding Week, Aug. 1-7 will include a Community Breastfeeding Fair and two free breastfeeding classes led by certified lactation consultants.

“Breastfeeding provides lifelong health benefits for both babies and mothers, giving every child the healthiest possible start in life. We’re excited to bring together pregnant and breastfeeding women, hospital staff, and breastfeeding support resources to celebrate, educate, and connect during this week,” says Barbara Otterson, RN, Abrazo West Campus.

Free Breastfeeding Classes
Thursday, Aug. 6
Abrazo West Campus, 2nd Floor Residents’ Classroom
• 10 a.m. – Noon: Returning to Work and Breastfeeding/Pumping
• 6 – 8 p.m.: Breastfeeding Basics for Expectant Mothers, Families and Partners

Guests will meet certified lactation consultants, visit vendors and community partners, and learn about services and resources available to support breastfeeding families. You’ll also receive free promotional items and can enter a drawing to win a breast pump.

“We want pregnant and breastfeeding families, hospital staff, and local breastfeeding support resources to come together in a spirit of learning, encouragement, and community because no family should have to walk the breastfeeding journey alone,” said Jennifer Nowlin, Nursing Director, Women & Infant Services, Abrazo West Campus.

“This is an opportunity to discover the many people and resources available to support breastfeeding success, ask questions, build connections, and celebrate the difference we can make together because when a community comes together to support breastfeeding, every family has the opportunity to thrive,” Nowlin said.
