SCOTTSDALE – Abrazo Scottsdale Campus has expanded its advanced surgical capabilities with the addition of the ExcelsiusGPS® Robotic Navigation Platform by Globus Medical, a cutting-edge system that integrates robotic precision with real-time navigation to enhance patient safety and surgical accuracy in spine procedures.

ExcelsiusGPS® is the world’s first technology to combine a rigid robotic arm with full navigation capabilities in a single adaptable platform.

“This innovation enables surgeons to perform highly accurate screw placement and trajectory alignment during spinal procedures, improving precision while minimizing radiation exposure to the surgical team,” said Ruben Castro, CEO, Abrazo Scottsdale Campus.

ExcelsiusGPS® is designed to enhance safety, efficiency, and reproducibility for both minimally invasive and complex spine surgeries and provides enhanced visualization of patient anatomy throughout the procedure to help optimize treatment.

“The system represents a major advancement in spine care,” said Dr. Kunwar Khalsa, MD, Orthopedic Surgery, Abrazo Health. “We are committed to providing the highest quality of care for our patients and staff, and we look forward to the positive impact this technology will have in promoting less invasive procedures, faster recovery times, and improved outcomes.”

The robotic navigation system will be used for a wide range of spinal procedures, including:

  • Lumbar and cervical spinal fusions
  • Decompressions and laminectomies
  • Revisions of prior spinal surgeries
  • Scoliosis and spinal deformity corrections
  • Minimally invasive screw and rod placement

“By integrating the ExcelsiusGPS® system into our spine program, Abrazo Scottsdale continues its commitment to innovation, safety, and excellence in patient care,” Castro added.
