Abrazo Central Campus Supports Maryland School with Student Health Screenings
Nursing staff help students with audio & visual check-ups
PHOENIX – Abrazo Central Campus’ nursing staff recently partnered with Maryland School to provide vital support during the school’s annual on-campus student health screenings.

Maryland School serves more than 600 K-8 students, and the annual health screening event offers essential hearing, and vision checks to help ensure kids are set up for a successful school year and ready to learn in good health.
“Our heartfelt thanks for Abrazo’s generous support in providing nurses to complete our students’ vision and hearing screenings. This was the kind of collaboration that strengthens schools and builds brighter futures for children. Our partnership with Abrazo helps us invest in the health and well-being of our students,” says Maryland School Principal Nick Gupton.

While trained audiologists and screeners from the school performed the exams, Abrazo’s nursing team played a key role in facilitating the Sept. 22 event, helping coordinate the process and offering support throughout the day.
“These screenings are an important way to catch potential health concerns early,” said Rachael Belkind, Abrazo Central ICU Charge Nurse, who was on site to help perform the health screenings.
“By working alongside Maryland School, our team is proud to help give students the tools they need to learn, grow, and thrive.” Belkind said.
The ongoing partnership between Maryland School and Abrazo Central Campus highlights the hospital’s dedication to community wellness, reinforcing its mission to improve health and quality of life for families across the Valley.
“It reflects our ongoing commitment to extending care beyond our hospital walls and strengthening ties with our community partners,” says Gregory Pearson, Abrazo Central Campus CEO.
