Abrazo Arrowhead Launches Comfort Cart Program to Enhance Patient Experience
Volunteers deliver ‘missed items from home’ to patients for added comfort!
GLENDALE — Abrazo Arrowhead Campus launches a new Comfort Cart Program, designed to bring added care, comfort and compassion directly to the bedside of patients during their hospital stay.

The program is led by dedicated volunteers who push a Comfort Cart stocked with thoughtful items to help patients feel more at home and at ease.
Everything on the cart is free and includes sleep kits, nail files, tissues, deodorant, mouthwash, toothpaste and toothbrushes, lotion, lip balm, playing cards, adult coloring books, puzzle books, and spiritual care materials—given out Monday through Friday.
“Our volunteers play an essential role in supporting patients beyond clinical care,” said Sherry Roueche, Volunteer Coordinator, Abrazo Arrowhead Campus.
“The Comfort Cart Program is a simple yet meaningful way to provide reassurance, dignity and a sense of normalcy to those who may be feeling vulnerable while away from home,” said Roueche.
How can you help?
As the program continues to grow, Abrazo Arrowhead Campus welcomes community support and involvement.
“One additional item we hope to add to our Comfort Cart is handmade shawls to help keep patients warm while sitting up in bed, so if you or someone you know knits or sews and would like to help our patients and contribute we would appreciate it and encourage you to contact Volunteer Services at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus,” added Rouche.
“The Comfort Cart Program reflects our commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and to strengthening connections between the hospital, our community and the patients we serve, as we strive to make any hospital experience as comfortable and nurturing as possible,” said Stephen Garner, CEO, Abrazo Arrowhead Campus.
