Julie Hastings-Smith

Julie Hastings-Smith has been with Abrazo Healthcare since 2001, and has been the Chief Financial Officer at Maryvale Hospital since 2012.  As CFO, Hastings-Smith provides managerial and financial leadership and is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of the fiscal services for the hospital.  She oversees and administers the hospital policies related to accounting, budgeting, supply chain, revenue cycle, patient access, and reimbursement.   Hastings-Smith has also served as the Interim CFO for Phoenix Baptist and Arrowhead Hospital as well as CFO of Phoenix Memorial.

During her CFO roles, Hastings-Smith has improved revenue cycle flow and operational processes along with cost improvements and efficiencies.  Hastings-Smith holds accountability, staff development and critical thinking as strengths that have helped her become successful.   High quality patient care given in a cost effective manner is her focus.
Prior to joining Abrazo, Hastings-Smith was the Chief Financial Officer of Mission Bay Memorial Hospital and Grossmont Hospital both in San Diego, CA and Controller of Northwest Hospital in Tucson, AZ.  Hastings-Smith has over 25 years of hospital administration and finance experience serving as Chief Financial Officer and Controller with Healthtrust, Columbia, and Triad healthcare facilities in the Phoenix, Tucson and San Diego metropolitan areas.
Hastings-Smith was previously a certified public accountant and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting from the Iowa State University, Ames , IA.
