I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (yes, a cheesehead by birth) then moved to Chicago, which was home until I left for college to Erie, PA to attend Gannon University. After four memorable years, it was time to join the ‘real world’ and I decided to attend medical school abroad in Belize, but enjoyed clinical experiences both in domestic and international settings. After graduation from medical school, I helped my father at his veterinary medicine offices until I decided I wanted to return to health care and worked in clinical research at the University of Chicago regarding tobacco cessation and reducing hospital readmissions. It was then when I realized I missed direct patient care and talking to patients of all ages about their current health and chronic conditions and had a revelation that Family Medicine was the best place for me! I did my residency in beautiful Roanoke, VA at Carilion Clinic-Virgnia Tech Carilion School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program where I served as chief resident during my third year.

Over the course of residency, I found myself enjoying the continuity of prenatal care and caring for their newborns from pre-conception to birth and beyond all the while still taking care of their Moms! I wished to continue training amongst higher risk obstetric and neonatal patients, thus pursuing a Maternal Child Health Fellowship at PCC Community Wellness Center in Chicago, IL allowing me to work at urban, underserved hospitals serving as junior faculty to Family Medicine residents while strengthening surgical obstetrics and ultrasound skills. During that time I was also given the opportunity to complete a faculty development fellowship at Cook County Hospital where I could learn to be a more effective teacher for future residents. I am excited to be joining Phoenix Baptist FMRP to work with students and residents and continue excellent patient care amongst a predominately Latino patient population. I enjoy teaching and working with learners for I enjoyed my training most when I had enthusiastic, exceptional teachers and that is what I strive to be for my residents!
