Welcome to Abrazo Community Health Network’s Heart Murmur Clinic and TAVR

The Abrazo Arrowhead Campus Heart Murmur Clinic is now offering the revolutionary Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) as part of its structural heart program. This advanced treatment option is available for patients suffering from severe aortic stenosis who have been deemed inoperable or high risk for conventional open heart surgery.

At our Heart Murmur Clinic, we take a multidisciplinary approach to patient care to provide the best outcomes. As important, we focus on compassionate, personalized care with our specially skilled Valve Coordinator.

TAVR has already helped thousands of patients with aortic stenosis return to the things they enjoy in life.  Find out how we can help your patients today.

Heart Murmur Clinic

Our Heart Murmur Clinic is located within Abrazo Arrowhead Campus and is staffed with a Valve Coordinator, an acute care nurse practitioner, who examines and evaluates patients with heart murmurs. Diagnostic testing is scheduled all in one day to consolidate the visit, making it convenient for patients and families. Education about disease process, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and medications is also provided.

We also offer:

  • Collaboration between the multidisciplinary team of cardiovascular surgeons and interventional cardiologists to provide TAVR.
  • Extensive experience in TAVR implants and SAVR (surgical aortic valve replacement).
  • Seamless continuity of care, from initial scheduling to one-year follow ups, through our Valve Coordinator

When to refer a patient
TAVR will not be an option for all patients. Common triggers for referral include:

  • Severe Aortic Stenosis
  • Aortic Valve Area <1cm2
  • Aortic Mean Gradient > 40 mmHg
  • Peak Aortic Jet Velocity > 4 m/s
  • Heart Murmur
  • Heart Failure
  • Valvular disease
  • Advanced age and operative risk factors
