Patrick Smith, MD

Dr. Patrick Smith currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Arrowhead Hospital. Smith is responsible for all quality initiatives, including core measures and performance improvement efforts.  He oversees the office of professional medical staff relations that handles the credentialing and privileging of the medical staff, as well as peer review.

Smith has 25 years of experience as a general surgeon and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has held numerous leadership positions, including CEO of a multi-specialty clinic. He previously served as Chief of Surgery, Chief of Staff, Medical Director, and Chief Medical Officer for Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital, a 330-bed tertiary referral hospital in Tucson.  Smith also has served as a trustee and was on the executive committee for the Board of Directors of the Carondelet Health System.

Smith holds a master’s in Business Administration from the Eller School of Management at the University of Arizona.
