A TIP OF THE CAP TO WEST VALLEY HOSPITAL BOARD MEMBERS, COMMUNITY

GOODYEAR (September 25, 2009) – After a press release, two television news interviews, a flyer, a newspaper article and the voice and enthusiasm of Brenda Holland, president of West Valley Hospital’s Board of Trustees, the baby cap business is booming.
While living in New Hampshire, whenever Andrea Brode knitted 10-12 baby caps, she would donate them to a local hospital. Now in Arizona and a member of West Valley Hospital’s Board of Trustees, she decided to share her time and talents with babies born here at our hospital.
Of course, when Andrea learned we deliver approximately 130-140 babies each month at WVH, she knew she had her work cut out for her. So, she decided a community request might be in order.
Not only is Andrea continuing to knit baby caps, more than 70 individuals have expressed an interest and many have put their knitting needles to use, including residents of PebbleCreek and residents and volunteers from the La Loma campus. In fact, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, Brenda Holland made a special trip to the hospital to drop off seven dozen baby caps and a baby blanket from La Loma.
“We wish we could thank all these knitters by name, but many of them are donating the baby caps as a group so we don’t know who all the individuals are,” says Aimee Dobson, director of marketing. “We hope they know how much we appreciate them.”
West Valley Hospital extends a warm and special thanks to Andrea Brode, Brenda Holland and all the anonymous volunteers who are providing babies born at West Valley Hospital with an extra dose of TLC.
