ABRAZO LEADING THE WAY IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS
Two Abrazo hospitals first in state to offer newest da Vinci® Si System technology
PHOENIX (Oct. 8, 2009) – Abrazo Health Care’s two Valley hospitals – Paradise Valley Hospital in north east Phoenix and Phoenix Baptist Hospital in central Phoenix – have purchased the da Vinci Si System, the latest generation of robotic technology for minimally invasive surgical procedures. The newest version of the high-tech equipment offers 3-D and high-definition vision for superior clarity, and provides surgeons with unparalleled accuracy, dexterity and control, in addition to offering patients smaller incisions and shorter recovery times.
The da Vinci Si was released in April. Unlike the older version (the S model), this third generation utilizes extended features for surgeons such as 3-D and HD visualization for highly accurate depth perception of tissue and surrounding anatomy, an upgraded user interface, a light-weight camera with buttons for focus control, and new console settings for greater comfort.
The many patient benefits include smaller incisions, shorter recovery time and hospital stay, less risk of infection and blood loss, reduced scarring, and quicker return to normal daily activities.
“As part of our on-going commitment to offer high-quality care to our patients, we are proud to bring this state-of-the-art surgical technology to two of our hospitals,” said Dan Ausman, president, Abrazo Health Care. “As a result of the addition of this new equipment, our patients will experience less recovery time and better overall outcomes, and surgeons will have the benefit of enhanced vision for greater precision and control.”
Paradise Valley Hospital and Phoenix Baptist Hospital are utilizing the da Vinci Si system for minimally invasive procedures including urology, gynecology and general surgery.
