ABRAZO OFFERS FREE STROKE SCREENINGS DURING MAY
May is Stroke Awareness Month; screenings help people identify stroke risk factors
WHAT: As the number one cause of death in the United States and an occurrence that happens every 40 seconds, stroke kills more than 137,000 people each year. This is why the month of May is dedicated to national stroke awareness. Five Abrazo Health Care Hospitals in the Valley are focusing on the importance of stroke screenings in partnership with the American Stroke Association.
Members of the community are invited to attend this free screening to asses their risk for stroke. Participants can have vital signs and blood glucose levels checked and evaluated, receive a Bruit check (to listen for any blockage), a risk factor assessment performed by a neurologist, a consultation with a pharmacist to review current medications, and receive stroke education and information. There are a limited number of spaces available and people are encouraged to 1-888-3ABRAZO to reserve a spot.
