NEW FAMILY EDUCATION CENTER OPENS AT
MARYVALE HOSPITAL: SEPT. 21
Partnership with Healthy Start, Maricopa County aims to decrease infant mortality rates
WHAT: A brand new Family Education Center, in partnership with Healthy Start and Maricopa County, will open on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at Maryvale Hospital, 5102 W. Campbell Road in Phoenix. The Family Education Center will offer free community education, outreach, awareness and support for pregnant women and parents in low socio-economic communities in South Phoenix and Maryvale in an effort to decrease infant mortality rates and increase outcomes.
As a national public health intervention initiative and a federal and state funded program, Healthy Start will provide on-going outreach opportunities including proper prenatal care and testing, lactation counseling, cooking classes for baby, teen support groups, new dad boot camps and more.
The open house will include tours of the Mother and Newborn Center, prenatal and newborn care information, raffles, giveaways and refreshments.
