Small bowel follow-through
Please do not eat or drink after midnight the day before the exam. Exam may take up to three hours to complete.

Barium enema
Please arrange to pick up a preparation and instruction kit at an Abrazo Advanced Imaging location two days prior to your appointment. Please do not eat or drink after midnight the day before the exam.

Esophagram
Please do not eat or drink after midnight the day before the exam.

Intravenous pyelography (IVP)
Please purchase an 8-oz bottle of Citrate of Magnesia at any drug store and drink the 8-oz bottle followed by 8 ounces of water at bedtime the day before the exam. Please do not to eat or drink after taking your prep unless you have an afternoon appointment, in which case you may have clear liquids up until 10 am.
