PHOENIX, Ariz. (September 23, 2013) – Abrazo Health, the second largest health care delivery system in Arizona, announces today that Maryvale Hospital has received Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC).
To become an Accredited Chest Pain Center, Maryvale Hospital engaged in rigorous re-evaluation and refinement of its cardiac care processes in order to integrate the healthcare industry’s successful practices and newest paradigms into its cardiac care processes. Protocol-based medicine, developed by leading experts in cardiac care, is part of Maryvale Hospital’s overall cardiac care service and reduces the time from onset of symptoms to diagnosis and treatment.
As an Accredited Chest Pain Center, Maryvale Hospital ensures that patients who arrive at the hospital complaining of chest pain or other symptoms of a heart attack receive the treatment necessary during the critical window of time when the integrity of the heart muscle can be preserved. By becoming an Accredited Chest Pain Center, Maryvale Hospital has enhanced the quality of care for the Cardiac patient and has demonstrated its commitment to higher standards.
“People tend to wait when they think they might be having a heart attack, and that’s a mistake,” states Crystal Hamilton, Maryvale Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer. “The average patient arrives in the emergency department more than two hours after the onset of symptoms, but what they don’t realize is that the sooner a heart attack is recognized and treated, the less damage to the heart and the better the outcome for the patient.”
Part of Abrazo Health, Maryvale Hospital, located at 5102 West Campbell Avenue in Phoenix, has been serving the Valley for over 50 years. The hospital is an accessible resource to the Phoenix community offering diagnostic and interventional procedures, 24-hour emergency services and comprehensive obstetrics.
