PHOENIX (June 18, 2012) – Abrazo Health announced today that Tim Jahn, M.D., FACEP, has been named system chief medical officer for the organization. Abrazo Health includes six hospitals, two emergency centers, two health plans and 20 primary care clinics throughout the Valley.

In his role as CMO, Dr. Jahn will lead Abrazo Health on issues related to medical staff development, system strategy, program/service line development including standardization and consistency as well as patient care and quality

Dr. Jahn has more than 20 years of progressive experience in healthcare as a clinician, administrator and leader in quality management. Dr. Jahn is adept in the governance and operational aspects of healthcare delivery, specializing in complex, multi-hospital systems and multi-specialty physician group practices.

Prior to Abrazo, Dr. Jahn served as chief medical officer and chief quality officer at Hospital Sisters Healthcare System – Eastern Wisconsin Division, a three hospital division with net revenue of $500 million. In this role, Dr. Jahn standardized physician relations policies across the division, implemented a web-based credentialing product, created a successful multi-disciplinary physician peer review system, established an antibiotic stewardship program to achieve cost savings and increased quality of care, developed and drove implementation of a continuous performance improvement structure that positively impacted accounts receivables, emergency department throughput, operating room efficiency, supply chain effectiveness and centralized scheduling.

Formerly, Dr. Jahn has also served as chief medical informatics officer at for the eastern Wisconsin hospitals of Hospital Sisters Healthcare System, as the emergency services director for Infinity Healthcare in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, senior medical advisor to Care Logistics in Georgia and flight surgeon/emergency physician for the United States Navy.

Dr. Jahn holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and molecular biology, and obtained his MD at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He completed a residency in emergency medicine in San Diego California. Dr. Jahn obtained certification as a flight surgeon from the U.S. Navy. He is on the Foundation Board for St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center.
