Arrowhead Hospital is the first hospital in the state to offer the MAKOplasty® Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA), the latest innovation in total hip replacement surgery performed using the RIO®, Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System. RIO® is a highly advanced, surgeon-controlled robotic arm system that enables the accurate alignment and positioning of implants. Orthopedic surgeons at Arrowhead Hospital, are scheduled to perform the first MAKOplasty® Total Hip Arthroplasty (THA) at the hospital on Wednesday, January 18, 2013.

The Arizona Care Network, LLC has been selected as one of 106 new Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) in Medicare, ensuring as many as 4 million Medicare beneficiaries across the United States now have access to high-quality, coordinated care, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today.

For years, employees at Maryvale Hospital have donated gently used clothing and shoes to “The Maryvale Closet,” an internal collection that is available to patients who may be in need. One of the greatest requests if for shoes. The employees at Maryvale Hospital launched the first Maryvale Hospital Flip Flop Drive. In just one month, Hospital staff – including executives, physicians, nurses and administration -- collected more than 230 pairs of men’s and women’s flip flops in a variety of sizes, more than doubling the original goal of 100 pairs.
