Phoenix – Nov. 1, 2012 – Vanguard Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE: VHS) announced the recent appointment of Ken Howell as Corporate-Senior Vice President of Vanguard Health Systems and President of Abrazo Health Care, its Phoenix-based operations. The appointment of Howell signals a focus on culture and innovation to drive patient experience and growth for the Abrazo system.
With more than 25 years of management experience in the health care industry, Howell is a progressive leader poised to lead Abrazo Health Care in meeting the challenges of an ever-changing health care landscape. Most recently, Howell served as the Chief Development and Integration Officer of private equity-backed Adreima, a revenue cycle management services company, where he was charged with acquisition and integration activity as well as oversight of all financial functions.
Prior to his time at Adreima, Howell has served in executive leadership roles for three different organizations, including Abrazo Health Care, where he served as Chief Executive Officer for Phoenix Baptist Hospital (2008-2010) and Arizona Heart Hospital (2003-2007). In addition, he was the Dallas Market President for Hospital Partners of America; and, Regional Vice President for MedCath Corporation and HealthSouth Corporation, where he began his career.
