PHOENIX (August 15, 2012) – Abrazo Health Care is pleased to announce Scott Endsley, M.D., as the new chief medical officer for Arizona Heart Hospital and Phoenix Baptist Hospital, both part of the Abrazo Health Care network. Abrazo Health includes six hospitals, two emergency centers, two health plans and 20 primary care clinics throughout the Valley.

In his role as CMO, Endsley will lead Arizona Heart Hospital and Phoenix Baptist on issues related to medical staff development, system strategy, program/service line development including standardization and consistency as well as patient care and quality.

Endsley comes to the Abrazo Health Care network with more than 25 years of progressive experience in healthcare as a skilled physician, administrator and leader in quality management. Additionally, Endsley is proficient in the governance and operational aspects of healthcare delivery.

Prior to joining Abrazo Health Care, Endsley served as the corporate vice president and chief medical officer of the Patient Safety and Quality Center at SSM Health Care; a healthcare system based in St. Louis that employs 5400 physicians and consists of 15 hospitals across four states. In this role, Endsley worked extensively to expand physician engagement in reducing hospital-acquired conditions, healthcare-acquired infections and readmissions. He also led TeamSTEPPS training of physicians and other caregivers across the system and represented SSM on safety and quality initiatives nationally.

“Dr. Endsley’s tenured experience and expertise in the medical field makes him a fantastic addition to the Abrazo leadership team,” said Monica Bowman, interim chief executive officer of Arizona Heart and Phoenix Baptist Hospitals. “Dr. Endsley is a passionate and esteemed member of the healthcare community who continuously focuses on patient safety and quality of care.”

Endsley earned his MD at the University of Illinois, and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
