GLENDALE – (Aug. 28, 2014) – Abrazo Health’s Arrowhead Hospital physicians, nurses and staff will join the Ice Bucket Challenge at 4 p.m. today, Aug. 28, to raise awareness about ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
They will line up in front of the hospital, 18701 N. 67th Ave., Glendale.
West Valley Hospital board chair Sean Thompson suggested the challenge in honor of his mother, Sheila, who died from ALS in 1997.
Part of the Ice Bucket Challenge is to ask others to accept the challenge. On Aug. 22, Abrazo Health’s West Valley Hospital in Goodyear challenged Arrowhead Hospital. West Valley Hospital raised $1,740 for the ALS Association.
Across the country, people are joining the #IceBucketChallenge to raise awareness and money for ALS. People are encouraged to discuss their own challenges through social media with #IceBucketChallenge.
