ARROWHEAD HOSPITAL GETS READY TO OPEN FIRST STAND ALONE EMERGENCY CENTER IN PEORIA
North Peoria Emergency Center will offer advanced medical care for emergent needs
PHOENIX (Oct. 19, 2010) – Residents of the north west Valley will soon benefit from the North Peoria Emergency Center, located at 26900 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway in Peoria, a 14-bed full-service emergency department scheduled to open in December. The facility will offer around-the-clock medical care in addition to CT scans, ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging services, an on-site laboratory, and will be staffed by board certified physicians and specialty certified nurses. The new Emergency Center will be operated by Arrowhead Hospital, located just eight miles away in Glendale.
The concept of a stand alone full service Emergency Center was designed to alleviate some of the tremendous need for emergency care in the north Valley including highly populated outlying areas in communities like Vistancia, Surprise and Lake Pleasant. As an extension of Arrowhead Hospital, patients will experience a seamless integration of services and care between the hospital and the Emergency Center. Arrowhead Hospital will continue to provide emergency care in its 36-bed emergency room, designated as a Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, and a Primary Stroke Center by the American Stroke Association.
“Our patients and the growing community deserve the best health care available and that is why we are opening the North Peoria Emergency Center,” said Jon Bartlett, chief executive officer, Arrowhead Hospital. “With access to emergency medical care being very limited in the north Valley and with the rapid growth we’ve seen in communities like Vistancia, this is an important service to offer to area residents given every minute counts in the event of an emergency.”
A second Emergency Center in Buckeye is expected to open in the spring and will be operated as an extension of West Valley Hospital.
