(HealthDay News) -- Cartoon lore was correct about spinach being
good for you. The green, leafy veggie is rich in essential vitamins
and nutrients, and is a great source of fiber.
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers this advice about
buying and preparing spinach:
- For maximum nutrition, buy spinach fresh.
- Frozen spinach, if fresh isn't available, will retain most of
- Just before serving, always wash fresh spinach carefully.
- Store unwashed spinach loosely in a plastic bag in the
refrigerator's crisper, where it will last about four days.
