In 2003, five acute-care community hospitals in the Phoenix area joined forces to become what is known today as Abrazo Health Care. In October 2010, Arizona Heart Hospital, known for its distinct reputation as a premier cardiovascular specialty hospital, joined Abrazo Health Care. The six hospitals have a combined 1043 licensed beds.
