Abrazo Health contributes to many charitable organizations in the Valley. Many of its company directors and executive team members sit on various boards and volunteer their time to numerous causes including American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen, YMCA, Leadership Council, high schools, etc. In addition, Abrazo Health continues to educate and provide healthcare information to its local community. Abrazo Health supports the following:
American Heart Association
Each year Abrazo Health supports the American Heart Association at their annual Phoenix Start! Heart Walk, Go Red for Women and Phoenix Heart Ball. Employees and their family and friends participate in the Phoenix Heart Walk and raised funds to fight against heart disease and stroke. As a sponsor Abrazo provides $10,000 to the Heart Walk, Start Line, $5,000 for the Go Red for Women event and is a $25,000 donor level sponsor for the Phoenix Heart Ball.
Community Education and Outreach
Abrazo Health encourages healthy families and promotes active communities through education and outreach. Our hospitals offer a variety of classes from heart health, diabetes education, health screenings, childbirth and breast feeding classes and more.
Fire Service Leadership Conference
Abrazo Health supports the Fire Service Leadership Conference, an emergency service educational event for the entire southwest, with a $5,000 sponsorship for the past two consecutive years. The sponsorship help to defray the cost of the event and provide scholarship opportunities for other fire service leadership development programs in the state of Arizona.
Abrazo Health supports the Keogh Foundations with a $5,000 dinner sponsorship that brings awareness to the community of the healthcare needs for low income families and their children.
School-Based Health Centers
School-Based Health Centers provides medical and dental services to school-aged children who are uninsured and underserved. More than 3,400 children annually receive preventative and primary medical services and more than 1,700 children receive dental care. School-Based Health Centers consist of nine licensed clinic sites in five school districts, along with a mobile health unit that serves 53 community schools in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure
In an effort to raise awareness and fight against breast cancer, Abrazo Health employees, family and friends participates annually in the Komen Phoenix Race for the Cure by donating, walking, running, and sleeping in for the cure. In addition, Abrazo provides office space to the Susan G. Komen organization at Phoenix Baptist Hospital.
The Legacy Backpack Buddies
Abrazo Health supports the Legacy Backpack Buddies Project to help children from low-income families get ready for the new school year. Employees donated socks, school supplies and raised funds. They also volunteered to assist children in selecting clothes and school items during the Back-To-School Clothing Drive (BTSCD), which is sponsored by Legacy Connection.
Valley of the Sun United Way
Abrazo Health system-wide has partnered with the Valley of the Sun United Way for many years. Abrazo employees raises funds through employee payroll deduction pledges; employee cash, check, and credit card gifts; physician contributions; and special event fundraisers. Valley of the Sun United Way reaches a network of more than 400 nonprofit service programs working to improve the lives of people throughout Maricopa County.
